This award provides funding to South Piedmont Community College Foundation, Inc. to support South Piedmont Community College’s (SPCC) establishment of an HVAC-R training program in Anson County. For high school students, the college will provide programming at Anson High School and Anson Early College, housed at SPCC’s Polk Campus. For traditional undergraduates, the college will offer afternoon and evening classes at its Polk Campus. For disconnected youth and workers, the college will partner with NCWorks to offer a short-term, multi-week training series up to three times per year. This project boasts strong collaboration with the local workforce development board and school district and with industry partners, who have confirmed significant local demand. Outcomes expected from the project include 50 curriculum program completers and 60 students earning third-party credentials annually. Golden LEAF funds will be used for personnel, equipment and supplies, instructional technology, outreach and marketing, professional development, and accreditation costs.
