Program Area:
Special Programs Initiative
County of Applicant:
Jones
Year:
2018
Description:

Flooding from Hurricane Florence devastated Town of Pollocksville. Homes and commercial buildings along the Town’s main street corridor were damaged as was the Town’s infrastructure, including its sanitary sewer system. The Town faces a critical public health threat posed by damage to its wastewater treatment plant and two primary sewer pump stations. The Town is concerned that the damage could lead to a malfunction of the pumps or the plant, which could cause sanitary sewer overflows, potentially into waterways that pass through the Town. This Golden LEAF grant will support repairs to the Town’s sewer pump stations and wastewater treatment plant.
