Description:
The purpose of this grant was to provide funding to assist the Enfield Economic Development and Revitalization Commission with its initiative to secure a historic designation for the Town of Enfield, as recommended in the Economic Master Plan completed by UNC-Chapel Hill, which had been funded by Golden LEAF in 2010. With the historic designation, businesses located downtown would have been able to receive a historic tax credit, making locating there more attractive. The location of new businesses downtown was expected to increase investment in privately owned property, create at least 50 new full-time jobs, and also increase average annual wages. Golden LEAF funds were to be used to pay the balance of the fee for the NC Preservation writer to complete the application for the historic designation.
