The purpose of this Golden LEAF grant is to help the Black Heritage Society connect to heritage tourism planning and implementation efforts in Lenoir County by highlighting the contributions of African-Americans during the Civil War. The project will provide a list of locations in North Carolina occupied by US Colored Troops, a description of US Colored Troop participation in North Carolina battles and encourage the creation of an African-American Civil War tour.
