The Western North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church (WNCCUMC) is the faith-based nonprofit governing body for more than 600 congregations from Charlotte and Burlington in the east to the state border with Tennessee in the west. Its Disaster Ministries include proactive readiness, training for disaster relief volunteers from member churches, and responding to disasters in the region. WNCC Disaster Ministries has led, assisted, and collaborated in numerous disaster relief and recovery efforts over the years, including in response to Hurricane Helene. Golden LEAF grant funds will be used to support tools and equipment necessary to support home repair efforts, and for other costs to assist survivors.
