WAMY Community Action was founded in 1964 with the mission to empower low-income individuals and families to achieve economic independence and a better quality of life. Programs include housing repairs and weatherization, childcare scholarships, education and employment case management, financial crisis intervention, a volunteer-led community garden, and other supportive services. WAMY has experience in handling disaster-related challenges including managing $1 million in CARES Act and CDBG funds, assisting more than 2,000 individuals. Following Hurricane Helene, WAMY Community Action has been providing support to survivors. Golden LEAF grant funds will be used for home repair, housing assistance, utility assistance, replacement personal property, case management, tools and equipment, and volunteer support.
