Camp Grier was founded in Old Fort in 1952 and has been an integral part of the local community and economy for over 70 years. In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, Camp Grier served as a community resource, offering lodging, meals, laundry, showers, and coordinating community donations. To support recovery needs, Camp Grier canceled planned events until March 2025. Those events would have been a source of funding to support its operating expenses. Golden LEAF grant funds will be used for staff salaries, utilities, and food/meal expenses to allow the camp to continue to support recovery in the community.
