This award provides funding to Cleveland Community College (CCC) to establish a Health Science Academy, which will include health science training programs in nursing, medical assisting, medical sonography, radiography, and surgical technology. CCC will introduce the Health Science Academy as a new high school dual enrollment program which will be housed in facilities renovated with support from State Capital Infrastructure Funds. CCC plans to collaborate with Cleveland County Schools and Gardner-Webb University to develop the academy and related programming, which will include summer experiences designed to cultivate interest among middle and high school students in health sciences careers. CCC aims to increase the number of students attaining completion and receiving third-party credentials from 3 to 50 annually in the health science-related programs. Golden LEAF funds will be used for equipment, supplies, and personnel.
