This award provides funding to Pamlico Community College to support the expansion of continuing education and curriculum healthcare course offerings to create a skilled healthcare workforce and support area employers. The programs include Cardiac Monitor Technician, Central Sterile Processing Technician, Certified Dietary Manager, Certified Nursing Assistant, Community Health Worker, Dialysis Technician, Home Health Aide, Medication Aide, Pharmacy Technician, Phlebotomy Technician, Physical Therapy Technician, and others. There are 600 positions available in these programs within a50 mile radius of the county. These programs were selected based on community employment needs and employer requests. The project anticipates increasing the number of annual completers from 70 to 100 students and the number earning industry recognized credentials from 25 to 50. Golden LEAF funding will be used for the renovation to provide additional lab and classroom space and for instructional equipment, supplies, and technology.
