This award provides funding to Sampson Community College (SCC) Foundation to support the completion of a 36,000-square-foot, $19 million Health Sciences Building that will enhance workforce preparedness in rural southeastern North Carolina. The new facility will expand the capacity of SCC to graduate healthcare professionals and address critical labor shortages. It will feature state-of-the-art simulation labs, modern classrooms, and hands-on training spaces designed to provide students with real-world skills. Graduates will be equipped for high-demand healthcare careers such as Nursing (including RN and LPN), Medical Assisting, Paramedic, Nurse Aide, and other related fields. SCC expects to increase the number of annual graduates in these programs by 59 students within five years. The number of students earning at least one industry/third-party certification, license, or other credential annually will increase by 33. Golden LEAF funds will be used for equipment and equipment-related capital expenses.
