The headworks auger screen at the Clarkton Wastewater Treatment Plant was damaged during Hurricane Matthew and again during Hurricane Florence. The auger screen is vital to the efficient operation of the wastewater treatment plant as it removes material that would otherwise disrupt operations of equipment and treatment. The Town of Clarkton proposed to replace the screen and elevate the structure out of the flood risk to improve the operation of the facility. FEMA approved the replacement value of the auger screen only. Golden LEAF Disaster Recovery Grant Program funds were used to replace the apparatus in a structure above grade.
