The Greendale Way area of the Village of Clemmons experienced flooding during heavy rain events. Flood waters overtopped the culvert crossing and the street became impassable, affecting 30 homes. Golden LEAF flood mitigation grant funds were used to increase capacity by replacing existing infrastructure. Households in the immediate project area benefited from this project. Due to flooding from this culvert, there were multiple dead-end roads that became overtopped creating a safety concern for travelers and emergency services. The improvements at Greendale Way also relieved many upstream culverts.
