Description:

This contract provides funding to the North Carolina Community College System for continued support of the Golden LEAF Community Colleges Scholarship. The Golden LEAF Community Colleges Scholarship assists students and their families with the costs associated with curriculum and continuing education programs at community colleges. Eligible students must reside in a qualifying county as determined by Golden LEAF. Golden LEAF funds will pay for $2 million in scholarships to support awards of up to $2,250 annually for curriculum students and up to $1,850 annually for workforce continuing education students, and $60,000 for administrative costs. The funds will serve students enrolled in fall, spring, and summer semesters of the 2023-2024 year. Scholarship funds can be used to cover the cost of attendance, including tuition, fees, books, supplies, credentialing tests, transportation, and childcare. NCCCS will monitor the program to ensure funds are used for permissible purposes and to provide updates regarding outcomes of the program. NCCCS staff will work with community colleges and with Golden LEAF to market the scholarship, help achieve the goals of the program, and identify student success stories.
