The pump station located off Hillandale Road was the main receiving station from the northeast side of Fremont. This critical piece of infrastructure transported sewage to Fremont’s wastewater treatment lagoons or to a collection station where it was pumped to the City of Goldsboro. Saturated soil conditions following Hurricane Matthew caused the building to settle approximately two inches. Golden LEAF Disaster Recovery Grant Program funds enabled Fremont to replace the damaged infrastructure with a new submersible pump station.
