The Town of Pollocksville experiences somewhat frequent flooding along Fourth Street during rain events of 4” or more. The project location on Fourth Street sits in a bowl-like structure and has no existing system to drain stormwater. During rain events, the intersection of Fourth and Foy Street overtops and the stormwater takes approximately 48 hours to dissipate. Golden LEAF flood mitigation grant funds will be used to install new stormwater infrastructure that includes drop inlets. The new system will run along Fourth Street, cross Highway 1337, and drain into the Trent River. Installation of this new infrastructure will relieve road overtopping and will prevent flooding in nearby yards. Households in the immediate project area will benefit from this project.
Any project more than a couple of years old may not reflect current Board priorities.
