Disaster Recovery Grant Program

Description:

Wind and rain caused by Hurricane Florence resulted in significant damage at the Flora Macdonald Campus. The building housed a K-12 school serving approximately 85 students and 18 staff. Golden LEAF Disaster Recovery Grant Program funds were used to enable immediate mold remediation, roof repair, and boiler relocation. After originally partnering with FEMA, this project became of interest by the National Park Service through the NC Department of Cultural Resources and was released by FEMA to the NPS / NCDCR. Insurance proceeds were expected, but due to the complexity of the claim, the process is still underway.
