This award provides funding to Stanly Community College Foundation, Inc. to support the launch of a new Plumbing program and to expand a recently established Electrical Systems Technology program at Stanly Community College (SCC). Both programs will be housed in SCC’s new 32,000-square-foot trades education facility. Through a partnership with Stanly County Home Builders Association, this initiative is designed to address the persistent workforce shortages and skills gaps in Stanly County and surrounding areas. Each program will integrate internships and registered apprenticeship opportunities, providing students with hands-on training aligned with industry needs. Students will also be able to earn academic and industry/third-party certifications. Each program will have the capacity to enroll 18 students (36 total) annually. Golden LEAF funds will be used to support salaries and instructional technology.
