This award provides funding to Rowan-Cabarrus Community College (RCCC) to expand advanced manufacturing programs to its North Campus in Rowan County. RCCC, which has 5 campuses in Rowan and Cabarrus counties, currently offers advanced manufacturing at its Cabarrus County campus. Expanding advanced manufacturing training to Rowan County will help address the critical workforce needs in the region’s growing manufacturing and logistics industries and address transportation barriers faced by students and workers trying to access training at the Cabarrus campus. The project will launch new courses such as forklift operator training, Certified Production Technician, and FESTO Industry 4.0 certifications. It will also support post-secondary opportunities for high school students enrolled in the new Global Logistics CTE pathway that the Rowan-Salisbury School System is establishing at Jesse Carson High School. RCCC anticipates that 26 students will complete at least one academic program annually, with 21 students receiving at least one industry 3rd party certification/credential. Golden LEAF funds will be used for personnel, equipment, professional development, and outreach and marketing.
