This award provides funding to support Brunswick Community College’s new public safety training facility and burn village. The college received a $15.6 million state appropriation for the construction of the new facility to support training of law enforcement, paramedic, and firefighter first responders. Brunswick County is one of the fastest growing counties in North Carolina, with 47 percent population growth during the last decade. The number of emergency response professionals in the county must also grow in order to safely serve residents. The project anticipates increasing the number of new emergency responders by 153 within three years. GLF funds will be used to purchase training equipment.
Any project more than a couple of years old may not reflect current Board priorities.
