Description:

During and immediately following Hurricane Matthew, the Town of Faison was an island with roads blocked from all sides. It took nine days for power to be restored to the Town. The Faison Recreation and Wellness Center is an approved Red Cross shelter but lacks an alternative power source. This center also serves as the location for seniors in the area to receive meals and one of two public Wi-Fi spots. Golden LEAF Hurricane Matthew Disaster Recovery grant funds will be used to purchase and install a generator and transfer switch for the Faison Recreation and Wellness Center.
