This grant provided funding to Goshen Medical Center to upgrade its facilities to expand services and to launch and co-host, with East Carolina University, a rural residency training program at Goshen’s site in Beulaville. This program trained MDs who were selected for the residency because of their interest in working in rural areas after training. This expansion was projected to create 17 full-time equivalent positions, including up to nine residents by its third year. Golden LEAF funds were used for costs related to building construction.
