Disaster Relief and Rebuilding after Hurricane Matthew in Eastern North Carolina

North Carolina Baptist Men
Program Area:
Open Grants Program
County of Applicant:

Since Hurricane Matthew struck in October 2016, N.C. Baptist Men has been actively providing services to help communities respond to and recover from the disaster. The organization has set a goal of raising $3.25 million to repair 1,000 homes damaged by the Hurricane. This Golden LEAF grant will enable the N.C. Baptist Men to purchase materials for the repair of approximately 40 homes. Donations from other organizations will pay for other expenses required to complete the renovations including staff, food, and shelter for volunteers. Progress and success of this grant will be measured by actual numbers of residents in southeastern North Carolina whose homes are repaired using materials purchased with Golden LEAF grant funds.
