The purpose of this grant is to provide funding to Swain County Schools to support a 1:1 technology project that will provide digital devices to all students in grades 4-8 in order to strengthen 21st century literacy and STEM skills. This project is designed to help strengthen and expand the pipeline of digital learning by introducing devices in the lower grades. This project will enable the schools to more fully embed the technology curriculum into the regular classroom instruction. It also will address the growing need for digital connectivity in order to use digital textbooks, implement formative assessment, and expand STEM curriculum opportunities. Golden LEAF funds will be used to purchase student and teacher devices and carts, for software and other applications, and to support professional development.
Any project more than a couple of years old may not reflect current Board priorities.
