This award provides funding to the Sallie B. Howard School of Arts and Science to enhance its Biotechnology Pathway. The biopharma industry is growing in Wilson County and is creating hundreds of high-paying jobs. This project will provide hands-on training to meet workforce requirements by introducing mammalian cell culture techniques. The project will include new lab modules, teacher training, and year-round lab activities starting in Fall 2025, facilitated by experienced biotechnology staff. It is expected that 75 students will complete a CTE pathway and 40 students will complete the BioWork Certification annually. Golden LEAF Funds will be used for supplies and materials, lab furniture and equipment, professional development, computer equipment, and upgraded technology.
