This grant provides funding to the Caldwell Memorial Hospital Foundation to support construction of a rural behavioral health facility on the main campus of Caldwell Memorial Hospital (CMH). The Jonas Hill Hospital and Clinic 17,500-square-foot facility will include a 27-bed adult inpatient psychiatric unit, an outdoor healing common, and an outpatient psychiatric clinic and will serve over 750 adult patients annually. CMH is also renovating the emergency department to create a behavioral health zone for early assessment, treatment, and disposition of adults/adolescents seeking emergent psychiatric care. The North Carolina General Assembly awarded CMH $4 million from the NC DHHS to construct the psychiatric facility. The project is expected to create 50 full-time positions and serve as a psychiatric clinical site for residents and nursing students. Golden LEAF funds will be used for construction.
