The Columbus Baptist Association operated distribution sites during disasters including Hurricane Matthew and Hurricane Florence, and assisted by providing building materials, appliance replacement, and supporting other disaster-relief efforts. Funding awarded from the NC Hurricane Florence Relief Fund was used to purchase construction materials including sheetrock and subflooring, and for replacement personal property, including appliances. The Association secured a location to house materials in Columbus County so they were accessible to the Baptists on Mission and United Methodist Disaster Recovery teams operating in the area. The Association also worked with the Columbus County Long-Term Recovery Group to identify unmet needs.
