The Grifton and Highway 11 pump stations, owned and operated by the Contentnea Metropolitan Sewerage District, were subjected to frequent flooding, most recently due to Hurricane Matthew. Golden LEAF Disaster Recovery Grant Program funds supported improvements to the Grifton pump station and the relocation of the Highway 11 pump station. These improvements enable the pump stations to maintain operations during flood events.
