Wind, rain, and floodwater as a result of Hurricane Florence damaged Cape Fear Botanical Garden. Approximately 60 of the 80 acres that comprise the garden were submerged by floodwater. The greenhouse was smashed by falling trees. A culvert that provides access to the garden for all horticultural operations was compromised. Golden LEAF disaster recovery grant funds will be used to repair the access road culvert, replace the greenhouse, including associated site work, and replace the large event light display. Insurance proceeds will be used toward the project.
Any project more than a couple of years old may not reflect current Board priorities.
