The purpose of this grant was to provide funding to the Alamance Burlington School System (ABSS) to assist with the transformation of four laboratory classrooms at Graham High School (GHS) to create industry-standard science facilities. Alamance County students had the opportunity to take science classes through a partnership with Alamance Community College (ACC). Students accelerated through the biotechnology school-to-work pipeline, beginning at Graham Middle School’s Innovation Lab, continuing to GHS with a Biotechnology Certificate, and advancing to a full AAS in Biotechnology or another clinical lab field. The STEM wing opened for the 2017-2018 school year and was available to serve up to 900 high school students annually. Golden LEAF funds were used for room remodeling, furniture, equipment/materials, and technology.
