This grant provided funding to Bladen Community College (BCC) to support outreach efforts to middle school students. A career coach was expected to counsel middle and high school students about career pathways in STEM and advanced manufacturing/technologies, connect students to careers in high-demand occupations, connect students to programs at BCC, and coordinate the summer program that is intended to provide students with opportunities to explore careers available in the area labor market. Golden LEAF funds were also used for the career coach, to purchase equipment for the College’s Advanced Technology Center, and to assist with hosting a Summer Career Talent Institute.
