Description:

This award provides funding to the Center for Science Technology and Leadership Development, Inc. to establish a regional employment skills training center to address workforce preparedness gaps in rural northern Pitt County. The facility would be a satellite resource hub for businesses wanting to make their workforce training, career exploration, and job placements more accessible to residents in the area. CSTLD is collaborating with its partners to develop hands-on, work-based learning activities that align technical skills to industry needs to equip its students for job openings in the region. The Center will house multiple workforce development programs offered by Pitt Community College such as BioWorks, Pharmacy Technician, Phlebotomy, and the Advance Manufacturing Institute and will also serve as a hub for mobile labs from Pitt Community College. Golden LEAF dollars would be used for infrastructure costs which include parking lot resurfacing and broadband/utilities expansion, furniture & equipment, educational supplies, some staff salary costs, and transportation.
