This grant provided funding to the Iredell-Statesville School District (ISS) to open the first agriculture and science-focused early college high school in central North Carolina. Through this initiative, ISS partnered with Mitchell Community College to establish a north campus. The campus offered a college transfer program, an Agricultural Technology program, and work-based credentials/certificates for early college high school students and traditional college students. The early college provided training options for students to prepare them for employment in local agriculture and life sciences industries. Initial enrollment for the early college program was 100 students, growing to a total enrollment of 250 over three years. Golden LEAF funds were used for building improvements, equipment and supplies, professional development and personnel.
