Description:

This grant will provide funding to Beaufort County Community College to support the design and implementation of a course of study in Agribusiness Technology. The program was developed in response to demand from local employers and in recognition of the importance of agriculture to the College’s service area, which includes Beaufort, Hyde, Tyrrell and Washington counties. The program will educate individuals in the areas of management, marketing, communications, and finance of agriculturally-related businesses and will be monitored by an Agribusiness Advisory Committee consisting of local leaders in agriculture, agribusiness, and education. The College is also developing articulation agreements for program graduates with Mt. Olive University, NC A&T State University, and NCSU. Golden LEAF funds will be used for personnel, classroom upfit, and supplies and equipment. After initial grant funding, the College will be able to generate operating support for the program through State reimbursements for program enrollment.
