Description:

This funding assisted with the purchase of simulation training equipment to support the expansion of Southwestern Community College’s (SCC) health sciences programs. SCC constructed a new health science building that opened in August 2021. The expanded programs increased capacity from 440 to 638 students by 2023 and the college projects that it will produce 508 highly trained regional health care employees over ten years to meet demand and employer needs. The simulation training equipment, which was selected by instructors, local business leaders, and medical experts, supports SCC’s nursing, physical therapy assistant, and medical sonography curriculum programs. Golden LEAF funds were used for simulation training equipment.
