This grant funded Surry Community College Foundation to equip the Industrial Training Center on Surry Community College’s Yadkin Center campus. The center provided advanced manufacturing training in mechatronics, electronics engineering, electrical systems, welding, and computer integrated machining, targeting the needs of new and expanding business and industry. The long-term goal of the project was the development of a career/employment pipeline for the general public and high school graduates. Each of the following outcomes were enhanced through the project: increased student internship opportunities, increases in the number of students completing certificate, diploma, and degree credentials in technical programs, and strong post-graduation employment in the field of study. Golden LEAF funds were used to purchase equipment.
