The purpose of this grant was to provide funding to Cleveland Community College (CCC) to assist with the construction of a 30,000-square-foot advanced manufacturing center. The facility was approved for construction by CCC’s Board of Trustees, the Cleveland County Commissioners, and the State Board of Community Colleges. The estimated cost was $8 million of which $4.9 million was funded through proceeds from the Connect NC Bond. CCC also sought EDA funding. The center houses automation engineering, robotics, computer-integrated machining, drafting, and other programs. CCC believes the new center will provide the space, new technologies, and student-to-equipment ratios needed to train a highly skilled pool of workers that can meet and exceed demands by area industry.
