This award provides funding to Robeson Community College (RCC) to support the relocation and expansion of its welding program. RCC has received $24.5 million in state funding to construct a 27,450-square-foot Career & Technical Education building to house its trade-focused programs. Within this new facility, welding will occupy over 7,000 square feet of indoor and covered outdoor space compared to the current 1,434-square-foot lab space. Facility construction is expected to be completed by 2028. By 2030, RCC expects to increase the number of students completing a welding program by 40 students annually and expects to increase the number of students earning a third party/industry credential by 40 students annually. Golden LEAF funds will be used for welding equipment.
