Description:

This award provides funding to Alamance Community College Foundation toward start-up costs for the new Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) program at Alamance Community College (ACC). The program leverages the instructional space and equipment of ACC’s associate degree in nursing program. Hiring and training of faculty is expected to begin in summer/fall 2023, with classes starting in spring 2024 and students graduating in fall 2024. The program will reach a maximum of 40 students for the first class. With demonstrated success, ACC will ask for licensing approval for more than 40 students in the future. This project will address existing and projected demand for LPNs at Alamance County Regional Medical Center and area medical offices and rest homes. ACC will use institutional funds for renovation of the nursing training area and for nursing teaching equipment. Golden LEAF funds will be used to support the first year of start-up personnel and supply costs for the program.
