Description:

This grant provided funding to Thomasville City Schools to develop an Academy of Advanced Manufacturing and Design Innovation. The goal of the project was to increase the pipeline of skilled workers trained as technicians prepared for employment opportunities in manufacturing. This initiative was a partnership between Davidson County Community College and Thomasville City Schools designed to increase student participation in Career and College Promise (CCP) in targeted programs and other dual enrollment opportunities. Students earned industry-recognized credentials such as the Certified Production Technician, Siemens Certification, and the Career Readiness Certificate, and had opportunities to gain work experience through internship and apprenticeship opportunities with industry partners. Funding for this project was used for course materials and equipment for high school Career and Technical Education classes.
