Flooding along Rattlesnake Branch is frequent and results in significant inflow into the Cove City sanitary sewer collection system. Cove City transports its wastewater to Dover and subsequently to Kinston for treatment. The frequent flooding results in a significant expense for treatment. Golden LEAF disaster recovery funds will be used to improve stormwater infrastructure including replacement of existing culverts and elevating manhole covers to reduce inflow.
