Boiling Spring Lakes experiences flooding several times a year. A 2021 stormwater management master plan prioritized several projects in the city. Boiling Spring Lakes will use Golden LEAF flood mitigation grant funds to improve natural stormwater infrastructure downstream of Redwood Road. The project area include roads north of North Lake, a section of roads between Patricia and Pine Lakes, an area in the Northwest section of Town east of Hwy 87, and Elm Road. Project activities include the creation of approximately 11,000 linear feet of natural infrastructure and clearing along these new ditches. Golden LEAF Flood Mitigation Grant Funds will be used to support the nature-based improvements including rip rap, culverts, backfill, and flared end sections, and equipment rental to facilitate. The City plans to use existing staff to complete these improvements. Households in the project area will benefit from this project.
