This award provides funding to Appalachian Mountain Health to support the conversation of a former 8,740-square-foot medical practice into a comprehensive Federally Qualified Health Center that will provide primary care, behavioral health, dental, women’s health, and pediatric care, as well as pharmacy and laboratory services. The facility is located in Black Mountain. It will also serve and draw employees from communities including Old Fort and surrounding rural areas. The project will create 51 new jobs paying an average annual wage of nearly $77,000. Golden LEAF funds will be used for equipment.
