This award provides funding to North Carolina State University to continue the development of an automated peanut grading system to modernize North Carolina’s peanut inspection infrastructure. If adopted, the system will replace a manual process with high-speed imaging and sensing technology, reducing bottle-necks at grading stations and risk of loss farmers face while peanuts are awaiting inspection. Golden LEAF funds would be used for personnel, travel, and supplies.
