Amount:

Program Area:

Open Grants Program

County of Applicant:

Wake

Year:

12/03/2020

Description:

This grant provided funding that would leverage $10 million in COVID-19 relief funds directed to North Carolina livestock processors by providing assistance to help them use those funds effectively. It would also support livestock producers who sold bulk meat into the direct-to-consumer market by offering technical assistance and expanding their options for processing. Because some existing processors were operating at full capacity without the ability to schedule producers for services for a year, this project would also address some of the pressures faced by those producers in getting their products to market. Golden LEAF funds were used for contract personnel, travel, marketing, supplies, and meetings.
