This project supported the installation of a water booster pump station, piping, and appurtenances to allow Gastonia’s Two Rivers Utilities (TRU) to serve Bessemer City’s water system and South Ridge Industrial Park. The interconnection with TRU anticipated to provide up to 2.5 million gallons per day of additional water supply on a consistent basis that will serve the park’s heavy water users, which included a Dole’s salad-bagging plant and Livent, a manufacture of a key component of lithium-ion batteries. In addition to other sites at the park, the project also anticipated to serve Dhollandia, a manufacturer of hydraulic lift gates for trucks, which completed construction of a 280,000 square foot North American Headquarters in Bessemer City in 2019 and was expected to create 150-200 jobs.
