This grant assisted Beaufort County Community College (BCCC) in establishing a boat building and manufacturing program to serve the local boat building industry, which included nine companies in Beaufort County alone. These companies had expressed the need for a trained and knowledgeable workforce for existing and future job openings. The curriculum provided training in wooden hull construction, composite hull construction, and “rigging” (electrical, plumbing and engine installation), and dovetailed with training that was established in Beaufort County Schools. The program was expected to start in Spring 2021. Golden LEAF funds were used for equipment and initial personnel costs.
