This grant provided funding to Vance-Granville Community College (VGCC) to support its existing welding program through the addition of two course offerings not currently available to students, preparing them with skills identified by local companies. Through this project, VGCC met the expressed needs of local industry partners for enhanced training in CNC, plasma, and robotic welding equipment. Outcomes for the program included increased job opportunities for welding program graduates and skill enhancement among incumbent workers. Golden LEAF funds were used for equipment, instructor salary, and instructor travel related to training on new equipment.
