The United Way of Coastal Carolina (based in New Bern) served as the fiscal agent for the Craven County Disaster Recovery Alliance (CCDRA), the FEMA-designated long-term recovery group established following Hurricane Matthew. The CCDRA included representation from more than 60 churches, nonprofit organizations, schools, and community members. The CCDRA identified 2,500 homes in need of repair. Funding awarded from the NC Hurricane Florence Relief Fund was used for building materials. The CCDRA worked to secure a warehouse space and leveraged bulk buying to purchase home repair materials. The CCDRA worked to match volunteer organizations with survivors to complete home repairs.
