The United Way of Coastal Carolina served as the fiscal sponsor for the Pamlico County Disaster Recovery Coalition (PCDRC) since its inception following Hurricane Irene in 2011. PCDRC was the FEMA designated long-term recovery group in Pamlico County. The Board included community leaders, local elected officials, pastors, and members representing each of the communities within the County. The PCDRC partnered with volunteer organizations including the Baptists on Mission and UMCOR to provide services as well as the County Government, the Pamlico County Partnership for Children, and volunteer case managers to assist with identification and verification of unmet needs. Funding awarded from the NC Hurricane Florence Relief Fund was used for home repair expenses, including the purchase of materials and tools.
