The grant provided funding to the Town of Cove City to reduce significant inflow into the sanitary sewer collection system due to frequent flooding along Rattlesnake Branch. Cove City transported its wastewater to Dover and subsequently to Kinston for treatment, resulting in significant expense for treatment. Golden LEAF Disaster Recovery Grant Program funds were used to improve stormwater infrastructure, including replacing existing culverts and elevating manhole covers to reduce inflow.
